Airport Future Expansion

The Airport is scheduled for redevelopment and expansion with plans up until 2030 which will see changes for Manchester Airport's terminals 1, 2 and 3. The transformation of Manchester Airport has already begun with the demolition of several old buildings which were mainly used for storage to help create new Airport taxiways.

Terminal 1 will see work done to its gating piers in order to streamline passenger flow, and to prevent arrivals and departures from travelling on the same floor which has caused issues in the past. The realignment of Manchester Airport's gating piers will also allow for more seating, an increase of retail outlets as well as providing Manchester Airport Airbus A380 flights with gates in the terminal.

Terminal 2 will see extension work which will allow up to fifteen aircraft stands to be installed as well as a direct link between Manchester Airport Terminal 2 and Terminal 1. The airside link between the two Manchester terminals is hoped to help increase the number of connecting flights from Manchester Airport in order to promote Manchester Airport as a major transport hub in Europe.
