ABOUT WOLVERHAMPTON
A city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands,
Wolverhampton has an estimated overall population of
251,462, making Wolverhampton England’s 13th most
populous city. Wolverhampton grew initially as a
market town, and during the industrial revolution
Wolverhampton became a major industrial centre. For
the arts and museums, there is plenty to see and do
in Wolverhampton: Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Arena
Theatre (within Wolverhampton University), RAF Fire
Service Museum at Wolverhampton Airport to name but a
few. Sport is also well-represented in Wolverhampton;
the city has Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (also known as
Wolves) and a second club called Wolverhampton Casuals FC.
Athletics have a strong presence with the Wolverhampton &
Bilston Athletics Club as do Horse & Greyhound racing,
located in the North of the city centre is
Wolverhampton Racecourse.
