Paul at our car hire in Gatwick Airport branch reports on 12 New Stores opening in Gatwick Airport’s £21m revamp.
A host of new and refreshed stores opened this month at Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal. An all new £21m departure lounge is the location of well-known retailers such as Kurt Geiger, Hugo Boss and Lacoste. Aspinal of London and Ernest Jones will also have a first ever on-site Airport retail outlet.
Chairman of Aspinal of London, Iain Burton, said: that he was ‘delighted’ to be opening an airport store in Gatwick.
On 1 August, Luxury Department Store Harrods will follow suit and unveil a new 6,000 square foot store focusing on fashion and accessories.
Gatwick’s head of retail Spencer Sheen said: “This is a huge step forward in improving the experience for our passengers and transforming Gatwick into London’s airport of choice, as well as setting the benchmark for airport retail in the UK.
“Around 93 per cent of our passengers visit a retail outlet before boarding and 86 per cent will make a purchase,” he added.
In addition, Gatwick retailers will employ an increased m-commerce presence in its stores – including digital screens in Ernest Jones, and tablets in Dixons encouraging passengers to browse their complete range of products.
