Easirent car hire report on the latest car statistics relating to essential pre-winter checks as we weather forecasters predict dropping temperatures.
Some 12 million car drivers in the UK risk compromising their own safety and damage to their cars by failing to run some basic car checks.
The latest statistics also found that 7.5 million car drivers did not know how to check their car’s oil level.
It is estimated that carrying out simple pre-winter checks could save car drivers a combined £450 million this winter. Costly car breakdowns and damage to cars can be brought about by cold weather.
Common problems include wiper blade replacement and the failure of light bulbs however, due to incorrect anti-freeze levels, more serious faults can also develop with the engine.

Car driver are advised to carry out simple checks themselves on a regular basis relating to:
o Engine oil
o Tyre pressures
o Tread depths
