Car Hire Liverpool Airport bring the best parts of this years Grand National which took place last weekend.
It was another jam packed crowd in Liverpool for the 2014 Crabbie’s Grand National as for the first time the prize fund topped £1 million, with the winner being 25/1 Pineau De Re, with winning owner John Provan taking £561,300 of the pot. In second was Balthezar King, third came Double Seven and fourth was Alvarado. The main controversy surrounded the starting of the Grand National.
On the celebrity front, first to be spotted enjoying the day were friends Cilla Black and Sir Cliff Richard, who were later invited to the Winner’s Enclosure to watch HRH Princess Anne present the Grand National winning trophy. Zara Phillips, Princess Anne’s daughter was also in attendance supporting husband Mike Tindall, whose horse Monbeg Dude finished seventh. Other celebrities enjoying the day included former player and manger of Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish, comedians Paddy McGuiness and Brian Conley, celebrity chef Simon Rimmer and TV presenter Gloria Hunniford.
Race goers were treated to some entertainment on the day with the Military Wives Choir defying the rain to perform the National Anthem out on the track before the national got under way. Before any of the action, past Grand National superstars made an appearance in the parade ring to remind punters of some of the history. There was also live music throughout the day for race goers in various parts of the stadium.
