Pick up your Easirent hire car from our Bootle depot and head to Liverpool’s Albert Dock for the Albert Dock Pirate Festival 2015.
Every year, the Albert Dock Pirate Festival promises a swashbuckling day for all of the family. Taking place on 12 and 13 September, the event takes place in Liverpool’s iconic Albert Dock, which is home to the largest collection of Grade I listed buildings in the UK. Set sail back in time to witness live action pirate battles between the Pirate Brigatine ZEBU and the Pirate Schooner VILMA, which are two authentic pirate ships.
During the day there will be a tale of emotion, ambition, capture, courage and escape which will end in a climactic finale using real cannons and gun powder. Visitors to the festival will be able to climb aboard the pirate ships to meet the notorious pirates Captain Frenchy Hawkins and Captain Ann Bonny, who will be engaging in authentic sword fighting.
During the weekend there will also be cannon and musket displays and 18th century encampments which will give an insight into how the people lived across Liverpool and Bootle in the time.
Keep the kids entertained with face-painting to the backdrop of live, traditional sea shanties which will be performed by local artists. They can also take part in the Young Pirates Parade, and if they get peckish, the local restaurants in the Albert Dock will be running kids-eat-free offers.
Both children and adults alike are encouraged to dress up in their best pirate outfit during the weekend. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay, then check out Easirent hire car’s best hotels in Liverpool and Bootle.
