Tuesday 10th of November 2015
Blackburn has announced a big celebration for the switch on of their Christmas lights on 19th November, with an evening show that brings together many recognisable names from the world of pop music, in partnership with the local Blackburn radio station, The Bee. The event brings in many great entertainers and will also herald the beginning of late night shopping at the city’s shopping centre, The Mall and also in many other shops across the city.
The big Christmas Lights Switch On will be headlined by Alesha Dixon, known for both her singing and talent show judging career. The show will be two hours long, hosted by The Bee Radio and compered by Ted Robbins, known for his roles in Phoenix Nights and Coronation Street. Other supporting acts for Alesha Dixon will include Jake Quickenden of X Factor and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here fame and Britain’s Got Talent’s Henry Gallagher and Ella Shaw, who is bringing with her the girl band Tiger Heart. As well as live music there will be guest spot appearances from superbike champion and winner of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here 2014, Carl Fogarty, Coronation Street’s Alex Bain and Peter Gunn.
Youngest guests won’t be disappointed as two of the Clangers, Small and Tiny, will be meeting and greeting families before the show and they’ll be there when the lights are switched on too. Blackburn is committed to ensure each Christmas Lights Switch On is as memorable as the last and anyone in the area should try to get along to see the show.
