It is a shock to the system for staff working at Car Hire Birmingham Airport to find they have a top rated hotel in the area.
It may come as a shock to many people who live in Birmingham but Britain’s best hotel according to Chinese tourists is the Holiday Inn Express. The hotel received the highest rating out of all other hotels on bookings website Booking.com. It was awarded an average 9.6 out of 10. In second place was the Old Town Chambers in Edinburgh and third best rated by Chinese visitors was The Paradise Hotel in Bath.
This is not just the case with the Chinese, as the British guests seem to agree with them as TripAdvisor has only 13 negative reviews from a total of 288 reviews. From this total it had 100 people select the ‘excellent’ category.
These figures from Booking.com showed a significant rise in the number of Chinese visiting the UK. According to VisitBritain, visitors from China have doubled in the last five years and tourism leaders hope these numbers will treble again by 2020.
Jason Grist, the UK Area Manager of Booking.com, said “In line with industry trends, we have experienced a 50 per cent increase in UK bookings by Chinese tourists in the first quarter of 2014 compared to the same time frame in 2013. In addition, we have seen the range of accommodations stayed in increase by almost a third. We believe this growth is just the beginning. By enhancing our service for Chinese visitors it will help drive interest not only for us, but also for UK tourism.”
