The Car Hire Glasgow Airport branch will be making car hire customers aware of the new cycle scheme launched in the city.
A cycle scheme has been launched in Glasgow, meaning people can hire bikes from locations around the city. The £600,000 initiative will see 400 bikes available from a total of 31 locations once complete.
The costs to hire will be £1 for the first thirty minutes, with each additional half hour costing £1 up to a maximum of £10 for five to 24 hours. Corporate membership is also available for local businesses, allowing staff to sign up for access to the bikes for free.
Glasgow Council leader Gordon Matheson said, “Glasgow now joins other major cities around the world in having a bike scheme that is attractive, affordable and easy to use. The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will leave a lasting legacy in the city giving us an ideal opportunity to capitalise on, and support, the continuing growth of cycling in Glasgow.”
Using the website, smartphone or telephone to register, users can become a member or a casual user. The scheme is being run by NextBike, which operates schemes in 80 cities worldwide, including Auckland, Baku, Nurnberg and Zagreb. Most of the bike points will be in the city and the west end.
