The Car Hire Birmingham Airport branch will be helping advise its airport car hire customers on the issues taking place with the airport control strikes.
Passengers at Birmingham Airport have suffered delays on Tuesday due to a dispute by French air traffic controllers. The delays were ranging from 15 minutes up to several hours, with many flights to France being cancelled. Many of the airlines who fly to France had been asked to reduce their services during the dispute, which could last a number of days.
It did not just affect flights direct to France it also had flights using French airspace being diverted or scrapped, including a Ryanair flight to Tenerife South and its return trip.
Some passengers reported that they were left hanging around on the runway waiting for take-off clearance, as the knock-on effects of the dispute caused problems for flights indirectly.
Birmingham Airport advised passengers flying over the next few days to check with the airport website direct, with a spokesman saying, “We advise passengers to contact their airline directly for more information and to visit the arrivals and departures page on our website, as well as allowing extra time for check in.”
