The is a higher sense of optimism around the club, for fans including those who work at Car Hire Birmingham Airport with the latest addition to the squad.
Fans of Birmingham City will be pleased at the news of Lee Clark making another signing. The highly rated Celtic youngster Denny Johnstone has signed for an undisclosed compensation fee on a three-year contract.
It did take several days of negotiations with the Park Head club to secure the signature of the striker, as initially the manager thought it would be too much money to sign him. In the end the bosses at Birmingham used what money was left in budget reserve and came to a compromise with the SPL Champions.
There were other clubs after the Scotland under-19 internationals signature, with Celtic even offering him a new contract. The Blues had a head start on other clubs as Alan Thompson is the clubs new under-21s/development coach, Celtic’s former first team coach.
There had even been enquiries from Ajax after he impressed against them in the UEFA Youth League. With this in the minds of fans they must be hoping to have a good youngster who can develop over the next few years for them.
