Birmingham face fight to keep hold of youngster

It will be hoped a good fee can be agreed, with the fans such as Trevor who work for Car Hire Birmingham Airport wanting him to stay if he can be persuaded to.

There will be a battle for Birmingham City to keep hold of Tom Adeyemi after the youngster handed in a transfer request, since a bid from Cardiff was rejected. The club will now meet with the player’s representatives to discuss the move further.

This could be a major blow for manager Lee Clark ahead of the new season, as he has been a key figure for the Blues since signing from Norwich City on a Bosman last summer. Even with injuries hampering the second half of the season, he was named the club’s young player of the season. Clark even made the bold call to name the player as vice-captain of the club.

Disruption to Lee Clark’s plans could result from this news, as he felt he knew his line-up for the opening game of the season, for the trip to Middlesbrough. Some positive news is former Blues player Jordan Mutch is on the verge of signing a £6 million transfer to Cardiff, meaning the Blues will receive a portion of that fee.
