The main thought in any fans head when a number of new signings are made is will they gel and be competitive, and for one signing the Car Hire Birmingham Airport team hope will be a success.
New Birmingham City signing has been tipped to make an impact in the Championship next season, according to manager Lee Clark. He is pleased to have brought striker Clayton Donaldson to St Andrew’s after beating off competition from other clubs.
It has certainly eased the issue for Clark who had the uncertainty surrounding the future of Nikola Zigic. The signing of the Brentford front man was the managers ninth of the summer and he is confident of goals from him to make the coming season a better one than the last one.
Clark said, “I am absolutely delighted to get him. You only have to look at his record over the last four or five seasons. He has got power, he has got pace, he’s good in the air and he can play out wide. But I have told him he is going to play through the middle most of his time. He has got a great record and he’s hungry. We have beaten off some big clubs in the division to get the lad to come to us we are delighted with that one.”
Clark has also brought in two wingers from Doncaster, in the form of David Cotterill and Mark Duffy. He added, “In my two years here with the exception of four or five games when I went with a 3-5-2 I have always played with wingers, whether it’s been a 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, I like to be excited and like wingers with a bit of pace and with a bit of courage to take people on.”
