Car Hire Birmingham Airport consider the achievements so far a success, for the three people who have made it to the semi-final stage and would not mind having a cheeky sample of some of the fantastic food they have on offer.
A Birmingham restaurant have got a trio of staff who will be showcasing their skills in front of Heston Blumenthal, after they were short listed for the prestigious Royal Academy of Culinary Arts’ Annual Awards of Excellence (AAE).
It will be chefs Kevin Steele and Gareth Wayt, along with restaurant manager Pawel Skrzpinski at Opus at Cornwall Street which have reached the semi-final stage of the awards which is available to young people in the hospitality industry. The AAE started in 1983 and has attracted entries from some of the most reputable restaurants in Britain, including The Ritz and Gleneagles.
Ann Tonks, director at Opus at Cornwall Street said “Birmingham’s growing reputation as a destination to see up-and-coming culinary talent is well-known, so for three of our team to make the semi-finals is further indication of this. There are some stellar establishments on the shortlist, so to see members of our team held in the same regard makes us very proud.”
Candidates in the semi-finals will need to demonstrate their skills to a panel of industry heavyweights including the Michelin-starred Chef Heston Blumenthal who is also the honorary president of the AAE.
