Birmingham Youngster opts to Leave Club

As the new football season draws ever closer, TJ from Car Hire Birmingham Airport highlights a loss for one of the football clubs in the area as Birmingham loose a talented youngster.

A Birmingham City academy player, rated as one of the clubs brightest prospects is set to join Premier League outfit Fulham. After unenthusiastically accepting a transfer request from Foday Nabay, who is only 15 years old despite manager Lee Clark’s best efforts to prove to the player that his instant future lay with them. Clark said “I made it abundantly clear to Foday in several meetings with him that he had the potential to become the youngest-ever player to play for Birmingham City Football Club’s first team this season at the age of 15.”

Clark rated the player very highly but could not do any more to try and convince the player to stay at Birmingham City. Clark continued “I was offering him the opportunity that as long as he continued in the way he was with his development and continued to show the qualities that he has then there would be first-team openings for him.”

Nabay joined the academy in August 2006 and only last year accepted a two year scholarship at St Andrew’s. The England under 16 international decided that for family reasons, he wanted to continue his development by relocating to London.

However Clark did wish the youngster well “He’s going to a super club in Fulham because I know them very well having spent seven great years there myself but I just wish we could have had the time to make him part of my current group. It wasn’t to be, he’s made the decision, we wish him all the best for future and we’ll move forward.”
