Blackpool has long been famed for its illuminations, with the annual switch-on always promising to out-do the previous year’s event. This year, the Blackpool iFest Switch-on seems set to top the lot, with guest appearances from some very famous celebrities.
Pick up your Easirent hire car from our Blackburn depot and take the 25 mile journey to the Blackpool Promenade for a weekend of fun for all the family.
This year’s switch-on will be the biggest illumination switch-on in Blackpool’s history and will be taking place from 4 to 6 September with admission priced at £10.
The whole weekend will be held in association with Vintage TV; Friday’s festival events will see British boy band The Vamps, as well as Toploader, Only the Young and Professor Green taking to the Main Stage to entertain spectators well into the night. The big illumination switch-on will take place as soon as night falls, and this year’s special guest in charge of turning on the famous illuminations will be none other than the legendary Hollywood director Tim Burton, famous for films such as Alice in Wonderland, Beetle Juice and Edward Scissorhands.
Saturday will see giants Banararama and Jason Donovan take to the stage to keep audiences entertained with some classics from the 1980’s. Saturday will also be the perfect day to keep the kids busy; the morning will see a live CBBC broadcast taking place from the famous Blackpool Promenade, with a special screening of Danger Mouse: Attack of the Toilets as a sneak preview into the upcoming remake of the 1980’s children’s classic cartoon.
Sunday night is comedy night, and there will be a plethora of comedians including Al Murray keeping audiences laughing well into the evening.
