Bristol is putting on a show throughout October with the return of its Circus City festival, which began in the city in 2013. Taking place from October 8 to 31, the four-week extravaganza includes an eclectic mix of shows, talks, masterclasses and workshops, combining circus skills with dance, theatre, comedy and puppetry.
Events take place at both indoors and outdoor locations across the city, featuring a variety of both home-grown talent and award-winning European shows. There are a number of free events alongside the ticketed ones, and the four week run includes the October half term if you’re looking for a fun family event on your visit to Bristol.
Circus City brings the idea and perceptions of a circus right up to date, with a huge range of contemporary performances, including jugglers, tight rope walkers and cabaret. Alongside live performances, the festival will see talks, films and photography exhibitions animate Bristol.
If you’re interested in cultural events, the last weekend in October also sees Art Weekend Bristol and Bath take over the two cities, making a hire car the perfect option for hopping between the two. The three-day artfest will host exhibitions, one-off special events, artists’ talks, family activities and trails and public artworks.
Bristol airport is just seven miles from the city centre, and an easy drive for car hirers. The Easirent car hire depot at Bristol airport is inside the arrivals terminal, with a short journey time of approximately half an hour into the city.
