Budget airline Wizz Air have announced the launch of a new air link between Slovakian city Košice and Bristol Airport. The news was announced on August 13 2015.
The new route will begin operating on October 10 2015, and flights will take place twice a week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This will become the eighth regular connection from Košice Airport, adding to existing routes that include London Luton, Doncaster Sheffield, and Milan Bergamo.
“We believe that the link with Bristol will give many of our customers from eastern Slovakia the opportunity to discover the southwest of England and will also attract visitors to Slovakia’s second largest city, stimulate tourism and improve business relations between the two countries,” said Wizz Air’s communications manager Tamara Mshvenieradze.
According to Karl Dandler, director of Košice Airport, the new air route is another important milestone towards the airport becoming the real gateway to eastern Europe.
“Košice Airport, the city of Košice and the whole region have confirmed this potential, so we can appreciate this eighth regular connection from Košice,” said Košice mayor Richard Raši, as quoted by TASR. “It will not only be local travellers and businessmen who will profit from it but also tourists and foreign investors and, in the end, the whole of eastern Slovakia.”
