Birmingham International Tattoo is Britain’s largest indoor tattoo and this year it is commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. International marching bands will parade, with over 1000 performers involved, to commemorate those who triumphed and those who lost their lives in the battle in 1940. The Tattoo is organised to take place on the 28th and 29th November.
The Birmingham International Tattoo is one of the most watched and popular events of its kind and if you’re visiting the area at the time, the venue, the Barclaycard Arena, can be reached in just 20 minutes’ drive from the airport. It’s no trouble at all to pick up your Easirent hire car and find your way down to the venue quickly and conveniently.
International marching bands from around the world, including Hungary, France, Sweden and Italy will be joining the wide range of UK-based bands and they will all be led by the Band of the Royal Air Force. In addition to the bands there will be over 120 standard bearers representing the Royal British Legion, Royal Air Forces Association, The Federation of Birmingham Ex-Service Associations and a number of other veteran organisations. There will also be a large youth contingent involved in the event as young musicians from the Massed Bands of the Sea Cadets Corps will be involved.
The grand finale of the Tattoo takes place with a traditional and rousing performance of Land and Hope and Glory, with all 1000 performers involved and they will be joined by the Royal Air Force Cosford Queen’s Colour and Escort as well as special guests to be announced.
