Drive to Fremantle, the heritage listed streets lined with coffee shops, musicians and street performers, stroll around the markets and brose the Aboriginal crafts on sale. Located on the Indian Ocean, there is no shortage of wonderful seafood restaurants on the Fishing Boat Harbour. Fremantle has great history and is home to the states first Prison and the infamous Dutch Shipwrecksituated at the Shipwreck museum on Cliff Street.
Make the most of your stay in Perth, hire a car and drive up the Indian Ocean Drive to discover the beaches small fishing villages and national parks along this coastline. North of Perth is Geraltonfamous for their crayfish, next stop is Carnarvon, known for their delicious tropical fruits. Then to Nigaloo Reef, a place where the beach meets the North West Cape, 260km of untouched reef in shallow clear tropical waters. It is one of the few places that it is possible to walk from the beach to the coral reef. There are 500 species of tropical fish, manta rays, sea snakes, whales, turtles and 220 species of coral. Snorkelling here is a unique experience for all ages. However for those who prefer not to swim there a semi-submersible cruise is available with experts onboard it is a great opportunity to learn about the marine life and their natural environment.
