The Car Hire Birmingham Airport branch are just pleased their car hire customers never leave the cars in the way this one has been.
There has been a car which has not moved from a multi-storey car park in Birmingham for three years, with parking fees valued at £14,235. It has been blocked off by a safety barrier, while investigations were under way to trace the owner.
This proved to be unsuccessful meaning the local authority has been asked to remove it. Local Police have even been involved, finding out that the vehicle has not been stolen or involved in a crime.
Bizarrely, APCOA, which manages the 1,400 space multi-storey, found the saloon had been left unlocked, with the logbook inside revealing the driver’s details. All attempts to contact the Coventry owner have failed. They also found the back axle was so damaged; the car could not be driven away.
An APCOA spokesman said “The car in question has been in situ for a couple of years. The reason why the vehicle is effectively cordoned-off is because one of the back wheels/axles is loose, and the car is propped up on one side for reasons of safety. West Midlands Police were made aware of the vehicle in the event that it may have been stolen. However, police records confirmed otherwise.”
