This summer sees the return of the annual Catch the Wind Kite Festival to the Morecambe Promenade. Hundreds of people are expected to flock to the sandy shores of the Lancashire town on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June, to see the skies spring to life with hundreds of kites.
Kites will be flown by professional kite fliers across the weekend, and guests to the festival are invited to bring their own kites along with them and take advantage of the perfect kite flying conditions that the area has to offer.
The free event, which runs from 12:00 – 17:00 each day, is also set to showcase some of the best local musicians from the surrounding areas. Visit The Platform, which is Morecambe’s former railway station, now a popular music venue overlooking the famous Midland Hotel and enjoy music from the likes of Baybeat, Maia and LYVE.
On Saturday evening, head to The Hothouse Ceilidh for a special performance by the Striding Edge Ceilidh Band, one of the hottest root bands that the region has to offer who will be joined on stage by Rafe, a Brazilian beatboxer, juggler and tap dancer.
And the fun doesn’t stop there; there will also be lots of fun activities for adults and children across the weekend including craft workshops, a funfair, food stalls, face painting, and bouncy castles. Local artists will also be showcasing their work throughout the weekend.
