Festive Preston is just a matter of weeks away as the 9th November marks the beginning of festivities in the city. Preston is a great location for a festive break as you can enjoy the city itself but you’re also well-placed for jumping in your Easirent hire car and visiting other festive sites in the local area such as the Christmas markets in Manchester or enjoying a locally-inspired pantomime in Liverpool.
Preston City Centre itself will be completely awash with festivity, with an ice rink opening near the Harris Museum and festive entertainment organised throughout the city. The Lights Switch On is still hushed up at the moment as the special guest and date are still under wraps, all we know is that it will definitely be in Flag Markets as it always is. The Christmas markets will also be coming to Preston alongside a visit from Father Christmas himself.
Going one step further than just popping by for a visit, Santa is actually sticking around for tea if you fancy it. Various Saturdays and Sundays throughout December will see Santa sat in his grotto at Avenham Park Pavilion and children will get the chance to have a chat, make Christmas crafts and truly get into the festive spirit.
Other Christmassy events in Preston include the Santa Steam Special on the Ribble Steam Railway, Sleeping Beauty as the magical panto at Preston Guild Hall and as Christmas comes to a close, the Last Night of the Preston Proms is celebrated on New Year’s Eve.
