Cardiff’s Bay and Quay area is once again coming alive with festive cheer this December, with plenty of things to do for visitors and locals alike. Visiting Cardiff at Christmas couldn’t be easier, simply catch your flight, pick up your Easirent hire car and travel into the city to enjoy all the Christmas attractions.
From 1st December Christmas takes over Cardiff’s Mermaid Quay. It’s a wonderful time to take a stroll across the Bay Barrage and enjoy wonderful views across the city and over the Bristol Channel. There will be plenty of opportunities to pick up a gift or two at the Cardiff Tourist information Centre in the Wales Millennium Centre has plenty of Welsh-inspired stocking fillers on sale. Family entertainment and fun can be booked at the Red Dragon Centre and the Wales Millennium Centre is bringing Shrek the Musical to Cardiff. There will also be a range of child-orientated shows and activities at the Millennium including a chance to meet Father Christmas and the Fairy-tale Forest, both of which pop up every weekend.
Mermaid Quay’s many restaurants and bars also have their own festive menus and events and from 5th December Santa’s Magical Post Office also returns to the area. There will be elves on hand to help little ones write their letters to Santa and every letter will get a response from Santa. The post office is open every weekend from 5th December and is sure to make a trip to the Quay a memorable for the youngest members of the family.
Cardiff’s Mermaid Quay is popular throughout the year and it really puts on a show each Christmas.
