The Car Hire Glasgow Airport team will be wanting to know the areas to avoid during the games, for customers benefit during the Commonwealth Games in the city later this year.
Glasgow Commonwealth Games organisers have been criticised for a lack of information about transport planning for the event. The Freight Transport Association (FTA) represents businesses, delivery companies and supermarket chains and has suggested there could be major consequences if a Games Route Network is not outlined urgently.
The issue the FTA has is the transport information about travel disruption during the games is behind where it should be at this stage. The logistics of getting thousands of athletes and spectators around the city during the Games will see special transport lanes put in position, impermanent road closures and diversions. Glasgow 2014 said it had met with operators and would provide as much information as achievable at every stage.
The FTA feel that if the matter was not corrected rapidly, it could have major consequences when it comes to delivering essential food, drink and supplies to the Games venues, residents and businesses in the city. They have set a deadline of all the details before the annual conference on 13th May, when delegates would require answers.
