If you’re heading to London this summer, then you mustn’t miss David Byrne’s Meltdown at the Southbank Centre from 17th August – 28th August 2015.
Historically curated by notable figures including Yoko Ono, John Peel and David Bowie, this year’s Meltdown at the Southbank Centre will be overseen by the Talking Head’s star David Byrne. An opportunity for influential artists to choose their favourite musicians and performers to exhibit during the festival, Meltdown showcases special one off performances throughout the week.
There will be a number of special events for visitors to the festival to get involved with; maybe you fancy picking up a new skill? Make sure you attend ‘Play the French Horn at Meltdown’, an interactive workshop for all ages. Pick up your notepad and pen and head to ‘Meltdown’s Music Journalism Course’ for some tips and tricks from notable music journalists.
Set in the 21 acre Southbank Centre, David Byrne’s Meltdown includes a myriad of live music, dance, art, poetry, comedy and talks.
Head to the Purcell Room on Wednesday 19th August for a special performance by Gaby Moreno and guests; the Grammy award winning Guatemalan songstress mesmerises her audiences with a magical fusion of soul, blues, jazz and 1960s rock and roll.
Get creative on Sunday 23rd August and ‘Bling ya Bike’ at one of Meltdown’s interactive workshops. Fun for all the family, ‘Bling ya Bike’ allows you to design and create your own unique bicycle masterpiece.
