The figures for hotel occupancy are pleasing reading and Car Hire Glasgow Airport hope that this can continue towards the Christmas season.
People wanting to and actually staying in Glasgow hit a record high in the last month with the opening of the Hydro concert arena, the football World Cup qualifier for the Scotland team and the BBC Proms in the Park. Hotel occupancy averaged 88.5% during September, which have been the best figures since the records began in 1999.
The research was carried out by LJ Forecaster who found that on sixteen nights of the month the occupancy was above 90%. August was another strong month for the hotel industry when average occupancy exceeded 90% for the month.
The occupancy for between April to September was up 2.6% on the previous year to 84.1%. The Marketing Bureau in Glasgow said the key events certainly helped to boost the figures for the month of September.
