Diffusion Festival is back in Cardiff for its second outing. First launched in 2013, Diffusion is Cardiff’s premier photography festival which brings together professionals, serious amateurs and those with a more general interest in the art form. The theme for the 2015 festival, which is planned for the whole of October, is Looking to America, as the festival explores American art but also the links between the States and the Welsh photography scene.
Diffusion is organised by Cardiff’s Ffotogallery and takes place at venues around the city, making it easy to spot an exhibition of two whilst you’re exploring Cardiff on a visit. The central locations are ideal for anyone based in the city centre for a trip and with the airport just over 20 minutes from the centre of the city it’s no trouble to pick up your Cardiff Easirent car and drive into the city to enjoy the festival.
The festival is planning to explore the many links between American and Welsh arts and it spans across several sites allowing it to engage both serious photography lovers and critics as well as sparking general interest. The empty storefronts in Wood Street, for example, have been reclaimed as accessible gallery spaces for the festival and the Abacus Art Space is the home of The Caravan Gallery for October, which is a mobile arts project which, during Diffusion, will be exploring the many facets of Cardiff, with a unique artistic twist.
Diffusion is a chance to explore contemporary international art but also discover new Welsh talents.
