Car Hire Glasgow Airport staff hope the shipyard can be salvaged after it had been revealed that there has been a bid submitted by a well-known pair of brothers.
There has been a bid confirmed by Sandy and James Easdale for the Ferguson shipyard in Glasgow. The brothers are directors at football club Rangers run the McGill buses and have lodged a formal bid.
Any potential buyers for the financially stricken business in Port Glasgow had until 5pm on Thusday to submit offers to the joint administrators. Blair Nimmo and Tony Friar of KPMG said several parties had expressed interest.
Around 70 staff has been made redundant last Friday after the firm went bust due to a lack of orders and cash flow issues. The business was originally formed in 1902.
