This week, easyJet is celebrating the launch of three new airline routes from Newcastle International Airport.
The new routes will fly passengers direct from Newcastle to Split in Croatia and the Greek islands of Rhodes and Corfu. The leading European airline celebrated its inaugural flight to Split on June 2nd by welcoming passengers aboard the aircraft with beach bags and ice cream, which was provided by Vallum, a local artisan food hub on Hadrian’s Wall.
“It has been fantastic to mark easyJet’s new routes by meeting our first passengers flying to Split today. We hope they enjoyed this morning’s events and are confident they will love all that the Croatian city has to offer” says Jennifer Groves, easyJet’s UK Regions Route Manager.
It is estimated that more than 20,000 passengers are expected to visit the three new destinations from Newcastle International Airport between June and October this year alone.
There are already 15 international destinations provided by easyJet from Newcastle International Airport, including popular beach, city and ski destinations.
Chris Sanders, Aviation Development Director at Newcastle International Airport has welcomed the introduction of easyJet’s new routes, “these new easyJet routes will make it easier for North East holidaymakers to reach Greece and Croatia this summer. Rhodes and Corfu are long time favourites from this airport while Split offers the prospect of beach holidays as well as the opportunity for three and four night short breaks in and around this interesting city.”
Whether you’re jetting off to warmer climes or you’re an international visitor to the city, starting prices for the easyJet flights are less than £30 per person. Pick up an Easirent hire car from our airport depot and can explore the North East at your leisure.
