The staff working at Car Hire Edinburgh Airport will also be hoping the Ryder Cup brings some extra custom in two weeks time.
The fall in UK passengers at Edinburgh Airport during August took the shine off a record month for the hub, but it is hoped that the Ryder Cup can change that for September.
This slight fall makes it two months in a row where domestic passenger numbers have dropped slightly, after fourteen months of growth. Officials at the airport were immediately unsure as to the reason for the drop. There is the hope that golf’s premier tournament will halt the drop. The airport expects to be the main air gateway for the golf tournament at Gleneagles in two weeks’ time.
Chief executive Gordon Dewar said “The Ryder Cup is one of the biggest sporting events in the world and we’ve been busy preparing to make sure we play our part.”
