Numbers for passengers travelling through Edinburgh Airport in June 2015 are higher than ever before, with over one million people passing through the airport in June alone.
The passenger numbers are up by 10.6% compared to June 2014 and it is the second consecutive month that the airport has seen passenger numbers reach over one million, with May 2015 also a busy month.
Over 475,000 domestic passengers travelled through the airport in June of this year, thanks to increased services to London being operated by Flybe, Ryanair and BA Cityflyer. The airport has also launched further international services to destinations such as Paris, Milan, Amsterdam, Madrid, Berlin and Nice resulting in a boost of 11.6% to international passengers, compared to June 2014.
Another contributing factor behind the airport’s strong growth, has been the addition of American Airline’s direct flights to New York JFK Airport, as well as a new daily service to Doha with Qatar Airlines and the launch of a daily flight to Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways.
Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport, commented on Edinburgh Airport’s successful month: “We had an incredibly busy month in June with more passengers travelling through than ever before. As the summer properly gets underway we’re anticipating our passenger numbers will continue to grow as people head off on their holidays.”
