The team at Car Hire Edinburgh Airport will be making car hire customers aware of the traffic congestion in and around the airport area this coming weekend and hope no person misses a flight.
Any passengers flying from Edinburgh Airport while the Royal Highland Show is on are being warned to make extra time to travel to the airport. There is an expected 67,000 people flying out from Edinburgh Airport over the weekend from June 20th to 22nd, with traffic around the airport being busier than usual with the launch of the annual Highland show.
The top people at Edinburgh Airport are working with show partners to make sure airport operations can continue without any issues. The show is being held at the Royal Highland Centre in the city’s Ingliston area from Thursday 19th June to Sunday 22nd June.
David Wilson, chief operating officer at Edinburgh Airport, said “The Royal Highland Show is always a hugely popular event and we work closely with organisers, RHASS and external partners to ensure the event and our airport operations go as smoothly as possible. Naturally with an event of this size, roads around the airport will be busier than normal and this will have an impact on travel time to and from the airport. We’re asking passengers to be prepared for a longer journey and allow extra time to travel. For those travelling from the city centre we’re encouraging the use of the tram and if you’re coming from the west, the Citylink Air service runs every 30 minutes between Buchannan Street in Glasgow and Edinburgh Airport.”
There is traffic management already under way with signage up to guide show-goers safely to the Royal Highland Centre. There are hundreds of thousands of people expected to visit the show ground over the four days.
