Car Hire Edinburgh Airport are pleased with the schemes that have received some much needed financial support to improve facilities.
There is a £10 million pot of funding available for projects across Scotland as the Big Lottery Fund has announced it is for improving community spaces, with Edinburgh not missing out. There will be two projects benefiting from the money, with £61,633 going to Crags Community Sports Centre and £211,768 awarded to Craigmillar Community Arts.
Big Lottery Fund, Scotland Chair, Maureen McGinn, said “Our Community Spaces programme allows local people to get together and shape their neighbourhood by making better use of outdoor and indoor spaces. Today’s investment allows for the development, improvement and creation of village halls, community gardens, art centres, sports and play facilities. For some areas, the refurbishment of a village hall will create a welcoming centre which can support a range of activities. For others, the transformation of a disused space offers a secure recreational place for everyone to enjoy.”
For the Crags Community Sports Centre, the money will improve facilities like creating a bicycle storage space and access to the sports centre benefiting upward of 500 children, young people and residents. The grant the Craigmillar Community Arts received means major refurbishments of the Grade B listed building, which currently has poor heating, ventilation and access issues. It is believed 7000 people will gain from all the refurbishment work.
