Everybody including those at Car Hire Edinburgh Airport will be wishing they were friends with the recent Lottery winner in the area.
The rollover Lottery has been won by a painter and decorator from Edinburgh, scooping over £7 million. He plans to celebrate his win and discuss what he plans to do with the money during the coming days.
The winner joins a list of Scottish jackpot winners, including Chris and Colin Weir who won £161 million on the Euro Millions lottery in 2011.The couple displaced former postal worker Angela Kelly, from East Kilbride, who became Scotland’s biggest winner in August 2007 when she won a £35,425,411.80 Euro Millions jackpot.
John McGuiness was the previous record winner when he won around £10 million in 1997 but lost millions of pounds investing in Livingston Football Club. The Weirs have established a charitable trust and donated millions of pounds to community projects but their contribution to the Scottish independence campaign has received most attention. The couple have given £5.5 million to the SNP and Yes Scotland since their record-breaking win, according to Electoral Commission figures.
