Car Hire Edinburgh Airport are excited by the news that a former Wimbledon tennis champion will be returning for a tennis event in the city in June.
John McEnroe will be taking part in the Brodies Champions of Tennis event in Edinburgh this June. Returning for this year’s event at Raeburn Place the tournament, McEnroe was the star attraction last year, with last years winner Tomas Enqvist, Goran Ivanisevic, Tim Henman, Henri Leconte and Mansour Bahrami are others competing this year.
McEnroe said, “I had a great experience in Edinburgh and enjoyed playing in front of a Scottish crowd, who were great fun and we had some good banter. On the ATP Champions Tour we want to show we can still play, and I think people will be surprised at the level of tennis they see here. I love to play still, I love to get out on the court. I work out regularly and I like to try and show people that it can still be done.”
The line up was completed with Marc Philippoussis, Wayne Ferreira and Fabrice Santoro. The tournament begins on the 19th June with the provisional match schedule listed below.
Thursday – June 19 (7pm): Ferreira v Ivanisevic; Enqvist/Leconte v Henman/Santoro.
Friday – June 20 (2pm): Enqvist v Philippoussis; Ivanisevic v Santoro; 5pm: Enqvist v Henman; Ferreira/Leconte v McEnroe/Philippoussis.
Saturday – June 21 (10.30am): Ferreira v Santoro; Henman v Philippoussis; 2.30: McEnroe v Leconte; Enqvist/Henman v Ivanisevic/Santoro.
Sunday – June 22 (1.30): McEnroe v Ferreira; Bahrami/Leconte v Philippoussis/Ivanisevic (Provided they are not in final); Brodies Champions of Tennis Final.
