The fact that the tram system came through without an issue, can be regarded as a positive according to the Car Hire Edinburgh Airport team.
The bosses of the new tram system in Edinburgh believe a key test has been successful after the network carried thousand’s of concert-goers to and from a One Direction show. An estimated 10,000 people left the concert by tram.
Edinburgh Trams general manager Tom Norris said “We successfully and safely transported thousands to the concert earlier in the evening which went very well indeed. At the end of the concert, queues were long and we moved people as fast as we could in both directions whilst prioritising safety. We put as many trams into the system as possible, 15, to cover the demand. We took some feedback from Directioners across the evening and we’ll be using that to enhance our service for future events.”
There was also an issue on the M8 before the concert as a cow caused delays for people making their way to the gig. ScotRail also added extra trains for those heading to the arena from further afield.
