Car Hire Edinburgh Airport are making all airport users aware of a car park fire which happened in the early hours of Friday morning.
There was a fire in the early hours of this morning at a car park servicing Edinburgh Airport, resulting in twenty-one cars being damaged. It was at the Lochend Industrial Estate on Queen Anne Drive where firefighters were called to at around 1.15am with the blaze under control by 3.45am.
No persons were hurt in the blaze which had twelve cars alight when the fire crew first arrived, but totalled twenty-one cars as they were parked so close together. The cause of the fire at this stage is unknown.
A spokesperson said, “The fire investigation unit is going out today in the daylight to investigate together with the police. No one was hurt; it will just be a nasty surprise for travellers coming back from holiday.”
The car park is controlled by Flying Scot under Low Cost Parking, with the website suggesting it offers 24-hour secure parking with CCTV, full fencing and guard dog patrol. If anyone is concerned about their car, the direct number is 0131 333 0091.
