Cardiff Airport has this month announced that it will be operating two brand new routes from the airport, to coincide with Euro 2016. The flights, which will be operated by Flybe, will support Welsh football fans who are travelling to games in Bordeaux and Toulouse later this year.
Flybe is Europe’s largest regional airline and the announcement of new routes will be welcomed by Welsh football fans, who will be making the trip to support their national team in their European Championship opener against Slovenia on 11 June 2016. The two routes offered by Flybe from Cardiff Airport will coincide with the two football games, and on the 20 June, Flybe will be offering a route from Cardiff to Toulouse for the Russian fixture, the last game of Group B.
Commercal Director of Cardiff Airport, Spencer Birns said:
“As the national Airport for Wales we’re pleased to see Flybe taking steps to enable Welsh football fans to watch their national team as they take part in such a prestigious sporting event. We know these special flights will be very well received when they go on sale, our presence in France will certainly be felt this summer! Go Wales!”
Seats for the flights went on sale on 14 January 2016, with fares staring at £184.99 each way.
