A new, swift route from Liverpool to Edinburgh has been unveiled from Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The route, which is operated by Flybe has celebrated its inaugural service to the Scottish capital, which flies passengers from Liverpool to Edinburgh in just 75 minutes.
The flights will depart Liverpool John Lennon airport daily and is Flybe’s fourth route from the airport, which include routes to the Isle of Man, Belfast City and Amsterdam. The addition of Flybe’s new Edinburgh service brings Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s to and from Liverpool to a total of 150 per week.
The service is the first to fly directly from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Scotland in over a decade, and has improved the connection time between the two cities dramatically; previously the journey would have taken over four hours by car or train.
Mark Povall, air service development director said: “This is another welcome addition to the Flybe network from Liverpool, greatly reducing the journey time to Scotland’s capital city and further improving connectivity between the City Region and other parts of the UK.”
Paul Simmons, Flybe’s chief commercial officer added: “We are delighted to be launching a brand new route this winter connecting the heart of Liverpool to Scotland’s capital. It offers an obvious alternative to rail or road, providing yet more time-saving travel for our regional customers.”
