One of the most important events in the Scottish calendar, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations are world-renowned and the full line-up of acts performing has just been released. The impressive line-up includes a huge range of recognisable names, including a large Scottish contingent and is bound to bring even more people into the city.
If you are visiting Edinburgh for Christmas and New Year it is super convenient to pick up your Edinburgh Easirent car from the airport and make the short trip into the centre to enjoy the festivities.
The Hogmanay line-Up this year includes a fully Scottish roster for the Concert in the Gardens (sold out) where Biffy Clyro, Idlewild and Honeyblood will perform. The Street Party’s Waverley Stage will be home to big name indie bands Maximo Park and Slaves as well as Glaswegian newbies White. For more of a party atmosphere the Frederick Stage is the place to be, as BBC funk and soul DJ Craig Charles is taking over with support from Edinburgh local Simon Hodge.
The Hogmanay celebrations go far and beyond the big concerts with cabaret line-ups and of course the annual Hogmanay Ceilidh, this year taking place on the Royal Mile and renamed The Old Town Ceilidh. The celebrations begin on December 30th with the traditional Torchlight Procession and the traditional dip in the water at South Queensferry, the Loony Dook, is also taking place, as always, on New Year’s Day.
In Edinburgh they know exactly how to welcome in the New Year in style and they attract plenty of visitors to join in the revelry.
