The Sports Village, a huge £18m development in Fylde in Lancashire, not far from Preston, is due to the completed by summer 2016. It is principally a home for the football club AFC Fylde, with a 6000 capacity stadium at its centre, but it will also provide a fantastic new sports and leisure complex for the local area.
It has just been confirmed that Mill Lane Sports Village Complex in Fylde will include a 290-capacity sports bar, an 80-seat restaurant with a modern roof terrace and a 40-seat café too. There will also be conference and event facilities across a set of different sizes and equipped rooms, which will provide space for up to 300 people. The main football stadium element will also include further facilities for smaller-side football including 5-a-side and 7-a-side pitches for the local community.
David Chell has just been announced as heading up the huge venture and his experience at Manchester City should hold him in good stead as he played a role in the move from Maine Road to the Etihad stadium and he has also played a role working at many sporting venues including Wembley, Royal Ascot and Twickenham. He is also a local guy who lives on the coast at Fylde so recognises what this new complex will bring to the area.
There is a lot of excitement around the new complex, not only for AFC Fylde but for the whole of Lancashire and beyond, as it provides another high quality venue for sports, business and leisure. Visiting the Sports Village will be no trouble from Preston either as it is just 20 minutes’ drive and easily reached from Easirent HQ in the city.
