Car Hire Gatwick Airport hope all local residents get the chance to have their view considered on the potential second runway plans before the six week period ends.
It is a crucial period of time for the consultations on the runway expansion proposals at Gatwick Airport according to the Mole Valley MP Sir Paul Beresford. He considers it just as important for the local people to pay attention to the different configurations on offer as it is the general idea of whether the runway addition would be a good idea or not.
He said, “We are being asked to turn our attention to the mechanics of where a second runway at Gatwick would be positioned and the exact way it would be operated. These questions are not on the forefront of the minds of my constituents. They are asking about the beautiful countryside which would be lost, the dangerous risk of flooding which would be exacerbated, the noise pollution which would become unbearable and the overpopulation of our villages. Gatwick have never provided satisfactory answers to these questions and, until they do, they must expect Mole Valley residents to keep asking them.”
The Airports Commission has narrowed its possibilities on airport expansion down to two possibilities, Heathrow having a third runway or Gatwick Airport getting a second runway. Many feel it will damage much of the local countryside around Gatwick and studies revealed it would be like dumping an Atlantic City-sized urban sprawl onto the woodlands and fields of Surrey.
