The visual maps of Google is a great way to see where a place is and Car Hire Gatwick Airport is now aware that it has now extended to the airport.
Some 2,000 images were collected at Gatwick Airport, by Google’s backpack-worn photography equipment around the North and South terminals. The Border Agency and the Police worked with the search engine to highlight areas where photographs could be safely taken without hindering security.
Gatwick’s CIO Michael Ibbitson said, “The intangible benefit for us will be increased revenue in the shops and the food and beverage outlets. Passengers will be able to find them easier, and they will be more comfortable because they have seen the airport before they get there.”
This gives less frequent travellers a chance to find places better with the positioning indicator on smartphones and the ‘compass mode’ to gain directions to areas of the airport. The project took just ten days for Google workers to complete and cost the airport very little.
