Car Hire Gatwick Airport would have loved to have got a team together to support the Sport Relief campaign at the airport last week.
Last Friday at Gatwick Airport, passengers boarding planes may have seen Gary Lineker trying to pull a plane along the runway. The host of Match of The Day was part of a team involved in supporting Sport Relief. There were nine teams from Crawley, each of up to twenty people aiming to pull a plane 50 metres as fast as they could.
There were representatives from British Airways, the police and the fire service in the nine teams that competed. The Boeing 777 was used and a team from Crawley Rugby Club ended up victorious with a time of 46.14 seconds. Head coach Steve Silver, who took part in the pull, said “Our team was a mixture of three first team players, a lot of veterans, a couple of old crocs, two second team players, the chairman of the youth team and a lady player. Lots of people in the team were old enough to have grandchildren.”
A team from Gatwick Airport Limited came in second place, with third spot going to a team from the Home Office and Immigration Service. Last place sadly went to a team from Gatwick Police.
