Car Hire Gatwick Airport are not sure if the new proposal for compensation to local residents is the right offer.
If a second runway was to be built at Gatwick Airport then thousands of households would receive £1,000 a year in compensation the boss of the airport has announced. The CEO of the second largest runway in the UK, Stuart Wingate has revealed the package, which is equivalent to Band A council tax would help to ease some of the impact of the potential new runway.
Mr Wingate said, “How we best compensate communities affected by major infrastructure projects is an issue facing a growing number of sectors – from aviation to energy. Our proposal would see the people most affected by expansion at Gatwick receiving monetary compensation.”
There is an estimate that at least 4,100 households in Sussex and Surrey would qualify for the compensation. The second runway at Gatwick Airport is one of the options being considered by the airports commission.
