While the team at Easirent Car Hire at Gatwick Airport consider the security breach should be treated seriously, an element of perspective needs to be taken into consideration and not to over dramatise the situation.
The security breach which took place at Gatwick Airport on Tuesday should not be overstated according to a Crawley MP. A man managed to get through the security checks without a ticket or boarding pass, with the airport saying that he simply wasn’t asked for proof that he was authorised to pass through to the departure lounge.
Crawley MP Henry Smith said “It is a concern when somebody gets through airport security without the proper documentation and checks. It does need to be seen in context though. There are more than 30 million people travelling through Gatwick each year and these incidents are very rare.”
The security breach did reportedly cause some fear to spread through the airport with some worried passengers.
The breach came at a time when airports are on high alert with extra security checks being implemented last week. All passengers flying in or out of Gatwick, and all UK airports, have been told to ensure any electronic devices carried in hand luggage – mobile phones or tablets for example – are fully charged so they can be turned on if required. They will not be able to take on board any device that does not switch on.
