Many places will be making changes as the Commonwealth Games draws nearer and the airport is no different as Car Hire Glasgow Airport can reveal the investment under way.
The second phase of the £17 million improvements at Glasgow Airport for the Commonwealth Games next year is now under way. It will include upgrades and expansion of the international arrivals area and a modernisation of the main check-in hall. Toilet facilities will be improved at a cost of £1.5 million. It will be the biggest single outlay since the launch of the £31 million Skyhub building in 2008.
Glasgow Airport managing director Amanda McMillan said, “Next year represents a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best of Glasgow and Scotland to the world and we are fully aware of the important role we have to play in helping deliver a successful Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup and Year of Homecoming Scotland.”
New flooring will also be put in at the airport’s domestic pier, new heating and ventilation systems will be installed in terminal two, plus general improvements to the airport’s road network.
