Glasgow Commonwealth badminton Silver medal will take time to sink in

Congratulations from Car Hire Glasgow Airport staff on the achievements of one of their Commonwealth Games heroes.

Glasgow Commonwealth Games badminton silver medallist Kirsty Gilmour has revealed it will take a number of weeks for her to realise the significance of he medal win. The badminton star is still disenchanted with not taking gold from the women’s singles match, but thinks this will change when she lets her achievement sink in.

Kirsty became the first Scottish player to reach a women’s singles final at the Commonwealth Games and achieved the highest badminton result in Team Scotland’s history.

She said “It was brilliant to be the only Scottish woman to reach the singles final at the Commonwealth Games. I’ve achieved Team Scotland’s best result, and I also got our last medal, so I’m delighted with that. It hasn’t wholly set in yet but I’m sure in a few weeks’ time, when I’ve had time to think about it, it will all sink in. I was tense in the final and didn’t play close to my best, but I have to say I’m happy with it overall.”
