Car Hire Glasgow Airport think it will be a proud moment for those who are selected to carry the Baton for the Commonwealth Games.
A number of people will have received notification about whether they will have been successful to be part of the Queen’s Baton Relay for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games this summer. Around 4,000 people will have been chosen for the final forty days of the batons tour of Scotland.
The search was launched to look for people who had inspired others or made a contribution to their local community and received a vast response. There will be 100 people a day carrying the baton on its final journey around the country, arriving in Glasgow just before the games get under way on July 23rd.
Michael Cavanagh, chairman of Commonwealth Games Scotland, said “The athletes striving to be selected for Team Scotland will be truly inspired by the determination, courage and selflessness shown by all the selected baton bearers, and their commitment to helping others. It is fantastic that they are being recognised and rewarded with a coveted place in Scotland’s leg of the Queens Baton Relay and we thank them for their enthusiasm and support. We are confident the Queen’s Baton Relay will get the whole country behind the Games and Team Scotland in particular, as we collectively make our final journey to Glasgow 2014.”
